The afghan is made up of 12" squares using Aran/Worsted weight yarn, (10" squares if you use DK weight yarn). There are 33 squares in all, designed by 29 designers. The links to the patterns is shared weekly on the CAL – Crochet A Long Blog, https://calcrochetalong.com at 10:00 am CDT (that’s Chicago, IL USA) on Fridays. The CAL will run through early June, 2019.

Special stitches

Beginning Puff stitch: Begin with slip knot on hook.
Bead stitch: Insert hook into indicated stitch, yo and pull up a loop, (yo and pull through first loop only) twice, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook.
Long stitch: yo once for hdc or dc, insert hook into indicated st in the round below, yo and pull up a long loop, yo and pull through all 3 loops for long hdc or yo and pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through last 2 loops for dc, st worked over stitches and skip st covered.
Vst: (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same st.
Beginning Vst: start with standing dc and (ch1, dc) in the same st.
Cross sts: sk next st, dc in next 3sts, long dc in sk st
Hdc2tog: yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo and pull up a loop [3 loops on hook], yo, insert hook into next indicated st, yo and pull up a loop [5 loops on hook], yo and pull through all loops.
Hidden st refers to the first st after the corner which could be hidden by the corner sts.
הערות
- הריבוע נסרג בסיבובים, כאשר הצד הקדמי (ימין) של העבודה פונה אליכם – לא להפוך בסוף כל סיבוב.
- כל סיבוב מסתיים עם עש"ט לתך הראשון שנסרג לסגירת הסיבוב, גזירת החוט והידוק החוט אלא נאמר אחרת.

Notes
1. The square is worked in rounds, with right side facing you – do not turn at the end of each round.
2. Each round ends with a sl st to the first st to join the round, and fastened off unless otherwise
3. If you prefer, you can change every stitch at the beginning of the round with standing st or ch:
