Mini CAL – My Triangle Shawl Part 2 – Pompon border

Mini CAL – My Triangle Shawl

Part 2 – Pompon border

Hi, the main part of the shawl is completed, now it’s time for the border….

I chose to add a pompon’s border along one side only, and leave the other 2 sides as they are. You can crochet as I do, or add your design and personal preferences, add pompons on the other side or finish with single crochet along the other sides.

The pattern will be posted   in my blog   (you can register and get updates by email), and in Ravelry  and  I will also post updates at my Facebook page.

Sharing photos and consultation can be done at my  Facebook group CAL.il, and at CAL-CROCHET ALONG Facebook  group who are hosting the project.
You can also tag #hatchalot_simply_create on Instagram

The pattern, schedule and required materials can be found here or here

 Part 2 – Pompon border

Abbreviations:

sl st – slip stich

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

P – Picture

Note:

The pompons are made between the rows in the “spaces” that were made at repeats of row 5, except for the first pompon which is made into the top of the last dc in the last row (finishing point of part 1) and the last pompon made into the first chain at the beginning of the shawl.

Pompons row

Put your work in front of you with the last row made on top and the end of the row made on your left side (right side for left handed), (actually you don’t turn your work at  the end of the last row, just turn right (left to left handed))

In second ch from hook [p2] make (yarn over, insert hook in indicated st, yarn over, pull loop [p3], yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 2 times [p4,5], yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook [p6] – first half pompon made,

ch3 [p7],

In third ch from hook [p8] make (yarn over, insert hook in indicated st, yarn over, pull loop [p9], yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 2 times [p10,11], yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook [p12] – second half pompon made,

sl st to 1st ch under the first half pompon (actually it’s 5th ch of ch7 made at the beginning [p13]),

Ch4 [p14] *,

sl st to the top of dc at base of ch7 made [p15] – first pompon made.

** work from * to * once, sl st in next space (made from repeat of row 5)**,

repeat from ** to ** until you reach the final space,[p17]

(work from * to * once more and sl st to first ch made at the beginning of the shawl) X twice [p17]. Do not fasten off yarn yet!!!

You have completed the pompons along one side!!!

You can:

Option 1: finish the shawl as is.

Option 2: making pompons along the last dc's row (make the sl st every 6 dc, the last one will be just 3 dc).

Option 3: sc along the left sides without more pompons.

Fasten off the yarn.

Your shawl is completed!!!

Share your photos, I’ll be happy if you tag me so I’ll be able to see your triangle shawl…..

See you next week for part 3 – a mysterious and surprising pin shawl…

Simply create….
